Fears are like a storm. They only pass with some time and strength

Fears are like a storm. They only pass with some time and strength      I find that fear often comes from an experience in your life. You aren't born with the fear of something, for example snakes, but once you experience seeing or hearing a snake, you may become afraid. An example from my life, would be my fear of spiders. When I was first born, I wasn't fearful of spiders. In fact, I didn't have much opinion on them, even once I was old enough to see them and acknowledge them living. It wasn't until I had first seen one on the outside of a window pane, its slender body crawling across the clear glass, that I got this uncomfortable feeling. I thought they were unappealing to look at. A little interesting, but mainly just disgusting. Now, I have fully developed a fear of them, and get a unsettling feeling when I see one. So what is your fear?       I also believe that some fears are important to try and conquer. Instead of holding this fea...

Failure....not so bad

Failure....not so bad       Everyone has struggled with something, whether they admit it or not. Often, the idea of not succeeding, makes people have a harder time. This is pressure, that in this case, is caused by not wanting to fail. But what's wrong with failure? In my opinion, the answer is nothing, though that doesn't stop me from not wanting to succeed. Due to how we have given failure such a horrible definition, people have learned and been told that failure is a disgrace, horrible. For example, if you're a gymnast, and you are learning a new trick, you'll want to successfully complete the trick, instead of falling and struggling. As I stated before, a lot of this comes from pressure, and not only self pressure, but peer pressure. Peer pressure is influence from others, and it is usually happening to persuade you to do something you don't want to do, or can't do. (The other people putting this pressure on you, know what they're doing, and kno...

"Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it"

"Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it"      I've always had an eye for fashion, it runs in the family. Now though, after some time, I have gotten even better at knowing whether or not I'll be able to express myself well with what I am wearing. For example, when I wake up, I usually head over to the chair in the corner of my bedroom, where I had  lay  out my outfit for that day. (I decide the night before) Once I have put the outfit on, I look at my outfit in the mirror, from top to bottom. I think to myself.....  Am I confident and pleased by what I see?....Does this help me express myself?  If the answer is yes, I don't change. Since I admire others who look confident in what they wear, I don't always focus on just what's in style. I also focus on what will help me express myself in a self-assured matter. So next time you look in the mirror, don't focus on if the others around you are wearing what is "cute", and if y...

Best Friend Forever

Best Friend Forever      From a young age, most of us have been introduced to the idea of making friends, and being kind in order to do so. We're taught to not judge, tease, spread rumors, and to sum it all up, never be unkind. Though as we mature, or at least from my past experiences with others, I know it can be harder to do at times. Sure, we all prefer to have friends, so we try to be respectful of one another the best we can. But it can be hard as we find new interests, new talents, etc. It's like a book series. Each page will lead to a brand new adventure, and until you read and truly open up the book, you'll never know what's to come. This relates to making and keeping friends, because later and later throughout life, we open new chapters in our lives. These chapters are forever unfolding until we reach the end of our "book". When that happens, as soon as it ends, a new chapter begins. Your friendship book can have as many main characters as you ...

"Dear me....why aren't I perfect?"

"Dear me....why aren't I perfect?"      Everyone is insecure about something . Whether its an insecurity as simple as dressing like everybody else, or having marks on your face, we all have insecurities. Trust me. I have them, your friends have them, even the most popular kids at school have them! No matter who it is, we all have them. The real question is what are insecurities, and why do we have them? Why aren't we just perfect?      To be confident is always the first step to getting rid of insecurities, we all know that. Why do we have these feelings though? Well, it's important to know that these emotions are really just responses to our characteristics, inside and out. Now, let's discuss why we have insecurities. The reason is, we recognize when someone or something is truly sensational. Usually, our reactions make us want to have that characteristic, or item, such as an article of clothing, and we'll end up feeling self conscious. But w...

Grades...The struggle is real

Grades...The struggle is real       Middle school is where it begins. Competitive arguments on grades, who's the teacher's pet, etc. But in my opinion, these arguments are the way we make ourselves feel better about who we are, and the work we've accomplished. For example, when somebody tells you that they have an A+ in Geography, while you have an A, it releases the dreaded feeling of jealousy. It's not a factor to our daily lives that we like to admit, but we all want to be the best, the one who can say truthfully, that they have an A+ in every class. Sometimes all it takes are a few words, and you are on the road to a lack of self confidence. You believe others are straight up "better", "the ones to beat". This can cause you to be ashamed of the work you put out.        To be honest, it doesn't seem helpful when you're told that doing your best is all that counts. But it's true! There is nothing else you can  do when it com...
